WindsorWindsor Girls' Home was a home for the abused, neglected, and orphaned. Sixty girls lived on the property where a condemned hotel provided an administrative office, kitchen, and small dining area; and a dilapidated security fence left the girls at risk daily. The fence had holes cut into it by men who live in a nearby homeless community. These men were described in the local newspaper as sexual predators, and rightfully so. The men called the teen girls to the fence and offered them gifts in exchange for sex. As these girls sought out loving relationships, having been left out of them as children, they were more easily lured through the fence and did not always return. This facility broke our hearts. After nearly two years of focusing our resources on Windsor. We are glad to let our supporters know that the Child Development Agency closed this facility during the summer of 2011! Many of the former Windsor Girls will now be living at a property purchased by Embracing Orphans. This new children's home is called The Father's House. The Child Development Agency of Jamaica will run this facility owned by Embracing Orphans. In addition Embracing Orphans is supplying the home with house parents, Mark and Terah Wade of Portland, Oregon. |
