Blossom

Blossom Gardens Child Care Facility in Montego Bay is a place of safety for the abused, neglected, and orphaned. This home for newborns to children age eight, houses around sixty little ones.

Embracing Orphans first started their work at Blossom Gardens during the winter of 2007-2008.

Blossom has received education for their staff on Autism, Abuse, Neglect, Attachment Disorder, and HIV/AIDS. Through financial help from Embracing Orphans, teaching staff in Blossom's school have been given the chance to continue their education with college courses in primary education. Embracing Orphans also remodeled the staff restroom facilities.

Some of the major facility improvement projects include: replacement of all of toddler cribs and additional infant cribs, the purchase and building of two commercial playgrounds, and construction and furnishing the "Play and Learn Center" at Blossom, and the addition of wall mounted toddler manipulative toys.

Volunteer childcare assistance has been our largest program for the facility. Our volunteers read, feed, organize games, and take the children for field trips. The Blossom staff are included in our help too. Our volunteers don't shy away from the less attractive jobs of laundry and work in the kitchen.

Our volunteers also bring an assortment of provisions to Blossom on their trips. Educational supplies, diapers, formula, lotion, children's medicines, printer cartridges (Lexmark 23 Black), and computers.
